Rob Hulse strikes to beat old club Sheff Utd

Derby County 2 – 1 Sheff Utd

Derby County won their first league game after nearly a year in a fantastic game, giving Paul Jewell his first win for the club since starting 10 months ago.

It all started with an own goal from Matt Kilgallon after he foolishly knocked in a cross from Kris Commons.

It wasn’t long though before Darius Henderson took the score level, heading in a cross from Greg Halford.

In the second half, Derby were denied a penalty opportunity but that didn’t stop our boys from powering on. After 71 minutes, Rob Hulse managed to connect and slide in a mid-range shot against his former club to give Derby that much needed win and the first 3 points they’ve seen since last September.

Derby were looking strong and determined anyway after the two week break and having the match broadcast live on Sky Sports obviously gave the boys that extra enthusiasm. Let’s hope they can acheive a similar result against Swansea in the week.
