Tuesday 9 January, 2007 in In Brief

Derby will be facing Bristol Rovers at home in the 4th round of the FA Cup, a club that knocked us out of the 2002 FA Cup on our home ground. Hardly an inspiring thought but that was 5 years ago when we were struggling – things have changed since!

Italian ends a long wait for hat-trick (Derby Evening Telegraph)

Monday 8 January, 2007 in In Brief

It’s been ten years since Derby last got a hat-trick, way back in 1996 at the Baseball Grounds when Paul Simpson did it against Tranmere Rovers in a 6-2 thumping, just before our rise into the Big League. Could this be a sign?

Three in a row on Sky

Wednesday 3 January, 2007 in Fixtures

With Derby flying high at the moment, looking to be top contenders for promotion to the Premiership next season, it seems that Sky Sports are interested in making sure they get full coverage of the Rams progress.

Derby County on Sky Sports

Through Feburary and March, Derby will have three games shown in concession on Sky Sports.

  • Starting on Monday 26th February with Sunderland v Derby at the Stadium of Light, coverage will start on Sky Sports 1 at 7.30pm.
  • The run continues on Friday 2nd March when it’s Derby v Colchester at Pride Park.
  • Finally, the run finishes against fellow promotion rivals when the Birmingham City v Derby game has been bought forward to Friday 9th March with the Rams travelling to St. Andrews, potentially stealing them of their current Championship crown.

All in all, it should be an exciting second half to the season for the Rams, one that could see us gain automatic promotion to the “Big League”. Even if we’re not getting many Saturday matches, prime time TV coverage can only gain a higher profile for the Derby boys, preparing them for all those visits from the BBC cameramen next season.
