Rams 3-0 Burnley
Today showed everybody how the Rams can perform. The majority of the excitement came within the first 45 minutes of the game when Smith, Idiakez and Moore took the Rams to a 3-0 lead before the break.
Tommy Smith nodded in the first after Kevin Lisbie’s smart header into the box. It was then Idiakez who fired the second home through a full box of Clarets. Lisbie’s attack certainly pushed Burnley to the maximum and his determination obviously squandered the travellers as Darren “Big Dave” Moore tidied up a cross from Idiakez in the 34th minute.
Burnley tried hard to get a consolation goal but, at the end of the day, were beaten by the better side.
Derby have now got a 9 point cushion with 8 games left to play this season but, after today, there isn’t anything to worry about. Westley has put together a very confident and potentially clever team who shouldn’t need to worry about relegation and concentrate on building on today’s success. Our away match at Luton next week will be tricky for the team and Westley should be able to capitalise on his knowledge of the side but, after today’s performance against the F*xes, we should be able to travel back up the M1 next weekend with a spring in our step and yet another 3-points.
