Yet another week of ups and downs from the Pride Park boys…

• After an intense game, Doncaster knock us out the Carling Cup after our 3 goal retaliation in the last fifteen minutes and Doncaster winning 8-7 on penalties.
• To rub salt in our wound, Doncaster also signed Theo Streete on a month loan to reinforce their defence.
• The week ended on a high when Derby beat Sheffield Wednesday away 2-1 in the dying minutes of the game with just 10 players on the pitch. Steve Howard to the rescue yet again.

This week (10th-16th September 2006) hasn’t been too bad for the Rams…

• Derby sneaked a late win over Wolves at Molineaux on Tuesday, denying Mick McCarthy’s boys the chance of taking the top spot of the Championship.
• Some how, Pete Gadbsy and the Consortium currently running Derby have reduced our debt from £50m to £8.5m, taking a lot of strain off the club with reference to the finances. It won’t be long before we can start investing in some star players now!
• Derby were held out to a 1-1 draw against Preston although we were denied a couple of late attempts in the second half.

Things are certainly looking up for the Rams but we are still stuck at 17th in the table. We need to start winning some games now rather than drawing and show off what we are actually capable of.

• Lee Camp finalises his move over to Norwich so we’ll look forward to see him on the wrong side in Feburary if he’s still there.
• Departures continued throughout the week as Carlisle snap up Paul Thirlwell for yet another 3 month deal.
• To top things off, Roy Keane took the spotlight when Sunderland beat Derby at Pride Park after two minutes of madness in the second half.

• Former Rams Chairman Lionel Pickering dies aged 74 in Derby Royal Infirmary after a fight against cancer. He was the man behind the move to Pride Park, as well as the financial troubles we faced on 2003. There will be a one-minute silence before the next home match against Sunderland.
